Centre for Subtropical Design

QUT's Centre for Subtropical Design draws expertise from a wide range of professions including: Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Planning, Surveying, Construction Management, Humanities and Environmental Management, to carry out various research activities and to communicate research outcomes to professional bodies, industry and the community through forums, workshops and seminars. The Centre's core purpose is to demonstrate and promote subtropical design in our local communities.

Centre for Social Change

QUT's Centre for Social Change Research was established in 2003 to develop a research environment that promotes understanding of the drivers of social change and the implications of change for individuals, families, communities and nations. The Centre facilitates research programs with a strong applied social research orientation, which allows the human, ethical and societal dimensions of technological, environmental, economic and political change to be assessed and responses to these changes to be identified.

Sugar Research and Innovation

Sugar Research and Innovation (SRI) located at QUT is Australia's premier sugar processing research and development (R&D) specialist, with capabilities in milling, power generation, sugar refining, sugar chemistry and more recently total biomass utilisation. SRI conducts extensive research programs for clients and offers a broad range of commercially-available consultancy services, contract R&D, innovative factory equipment designs, products and computer software to assist clients improve productivity and factory performance. From July 2005, SRI forged a special relationship with QUT to enhance SRI's research efforts and strengthen its expertise.

Cooperative Research Centre
for Construction Innovation

The Cooperative Research Centre for Construction Innovation is a national research, development and implementation centre focused on the needs of the property, design, construction and facility management sectors. Construction Innovation was established in 2001 and headquartered at Queensland University of Technology. Construction Innovation is developing key technologies, tools and management systems to improve the effectiveness of the construction industry.

Cooperative Research Centre for
Integrated Engineering Asset Management

Headquartered at QUT Gardens Point, the CRC for Integrated Engineering Asset Management conducts innovative industry-directed R&D, education and commercialisation in an integrated approach to life-cycle physical asset management. CIEAM's vision is to develop and implement processes and programs in a strategic integrated framework that optimises asset management systems and ensures a globally competitive Australian industry.

Australian Housing and Urban Research
Institute: Queensland Research Centre

The Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute (AHURi) is a national research organisation, specialising in housing and urban research and policy. AHURi's mission is to make a real difference to housing and related urban outcomes throughout Australia by the creation and dissemination of knowledge in housing markets, housing policy and programs, and the urban environment in cities, towns and regions. The Queensland Research Centre is located at QUT.
