Library resources and support related to sustainability

QUT Library and Information Technology Services

A good portion of library resources are available to QUT staff and students via a computer with a connection to the internet

The Division of Technology, Information and Learning Support (TILS), which includes QUT Library and Information Technology Services’ High Performance Computing and Research Support (HPC), is committed to the provision of high quality service in support of the work of the ISR and its members.

Key TILS Research Support Services include:
  • Support for your individual research interests, provided by the Library’s Liaison Librarians, HPC’s Research Support Specialists, and your ITS Client Relations Manager

  • Promotion of published QUT research articles via QUT ePrints

Research Support

QUT libraries offer much more in resources than just a place housing books and articles!
Library Research Support [html link]

QUT Library can assist ISR members in their research work by offering information literacy skills training, information seeking strategies, information resource acquisition and one-on-one consultations.

Databases for Sustainability [html link]

QUT Library provides access to hundreds of different databases. To help ISR members choose the right database to search this webpage lists those databases that directly relate to Sustainability.

Evaluating and Comparing Journals: Impact Factors and Alternatives [html link]

This document suggests several different strategies for evaluating journals that ISR members may wish to publish in. In particular it defines the Journal Impact Factor.

Measuring the Research Impact of your Publications: Citation Indexes and Alternatives [html link]

This document explains some of the different strategies available to ISR members who are interested in tracking and measuring the research impact of their publications.

HPC and Research Support [html link]

The High Performance Computing (HPC) and Research Support Group provides support for staff and students using HPC and visualisation facilities.

They can provide help with the visualisation of research results and assist researchers to make the best use of advanced large-scale computing resources within and outside QUT.

Endnote and Endnote Training [html link]

Endnote is software designed to allow researchers to record, organise, and use references found when searching literature for information.
QUT Library is able to assist ISR members who are using the EndNote software.

ePrints [html link]

QUT ePrints is a showcase of QUT research outputs. The repository provides 'open access' copies of published journal articles, conference papers and reports authored QUT researchers (staff or postgraduate students).

This maximises the likelihood that the work will be discovered, accessed and cited.

Connotea (QUT staff and students only) [html link]

Share your useful links with ISR colleagues via Connotea: Instead of just saving new links as "Bookmarks" or "Favourites" on your own PC, Connotea allows you to save your links to a website so you can access them from any computer and even share them with colleagues. Instead of creating folders, saved links are "tagged" with keywords to organise them into subject groupings. QUT library has set up a Connotea Account for ISR and added a few links to start the ball rolling. The Connotea password can be accessed on the ISR secure page for QUT staff, or ISR internal forums for both QUT staff and students.
