Prof Xu is part of a team of South African Hydrogeologists / Groundwater Engineers from the University of Western Cape and University of Orange Free State, which researches analytical methods for assessment of groundwater recharge and aquifer storability. He is a leader in a pan-African network of groundwater organisations and has close links with the UN, European community and of course China. Prof Xu will talk about changing climatic patterns, notably rainfall variations and how these translate to likely changes in recharge to groundwater systems in different environments and ways of analysing these trends and potential for prediction.
