QUT’s sustainability research spans the faculties of Science and Technology, Built Environment and Engineering, Law and Business as well as several of its specialised institutes and centres.
The Institute for Sustainable Resources (isr) plays a pivotal role across the university bridging traditional boundaries between disciplines and linking teams of researchers to build capacity and capability in sustainability research. This body of research activity is captured by the following six domains:
- Greenhouse Gas Management
- Long-term Ecological Research
- Water Resources and Geosystems
- Energy Systems
- Sustainable Communities and Infrastructure
- Food Security
isr conceptualises, develops and manages research projects that examine the impacts of climate change on our natural, agricultural, urban and social systems and that propose mechanisms for adapting to and mitigating these impacts.
This integrated research contributes to finding technological, management, social and policy solutions to the sustainable development of our communities and the natural resources on which they depend.
